MindBullets 20 Years

A THOUSAND FUTURE THOUGHTS

Mindbullets celebrates twenty years of provocative scenarios

Two decades ago Futureworld began an innovative project; constructing weekly scenarios for the future, covering business, technology, society, politics, culture and global events.

And so Mindbullets: News from the Future was born. Provocative, engaging ‘news stories’ with a future dateline, designed to challenge the status quo, and highlight the consequences of today’s breakthrough ideas.

Since BEAM ME UP A BURGER, SCOTTY! was published in 2003, Mindbullets have been arriving in tens of thousands of inboxes all over the world, every Thursday. Now, in 2023, there are over 1000 published Mindbullets, still relevant to business strategy, and all searchable online.

Mindbullets do not seek to predict the future. Rather they are designed to pose those ‘What if?’ questions. What if nuclear fusion became a reality? What if manufacturing was made obsolete by 3D printing and atomic assembly? What if every single person in the world was connected to the internet? What would that mean for your brand, your business, your family or your country?

Going beyond analysis, Mindbullets seek to synthesize trends and news stories, and project these into possible futures. Many Mindbullets include detailed timelines and a scenario matrix of possible outcomes. Because the future is uncertain, and often surprising!

Now, looking back at some of those early Mindbullets, it’s quite amazing how prescient they were. Perhaps they weren’t crazy enough! Some of the ideas presented in Mindbullets over the years are now simply ‘normal’ reality.

We hope you will continue to enjoy Mindbullets well into the future.
